Know about Anxiety and Natural solutions for Anxiety


Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is becoming much common in younger age groups nowadays, especially younger men and women from IT, ITES, BPO etc are more reported than other industrial groups. Many companies have introduced the EIS – Emotional intelligence Score to analyze the employee’s psychological abilities, stress resistance, etc.



Anxiety disorder is characterized by the following symptoms
a. Unrealistic worries lasts more than six months – Subject could be anything job, money, marriage etc
b. Trembling
c. Feeling body or head ache all the times
d. Insomnia or Disturbed sleep
e. Abdominal upset, Frequent motions
f. Dizziness
g. Constant and un wanted irritability
h. Poor concentration
i. Reduced memory
Anxiety disorder is classified based on the cause as follows
a. OCD – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
b. Panic Disorder
c. PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
d. Social Anxiety Disorders
e. Phobias
General causes include hereditary, brain chemical imbalances, life experiences etc.
Ayurveda concept of anxiety disorder
Ayurveda, unlike the modern medical system, takes a comprehensive approach in the management of Anxiety disorder. Ayurveda considers this condition is due to the vitiated Prana Vata which weakens the CNS and triggers the psychological imbalance. It also affects the Neuro-Hormonal systems and functions.
Ayurveda recommends a holistic approach to manage and heal anxiety disorder through diet,  aromatherapy, color therapy, sound therapy and touch (massage) therapy along with yoga and meditation.
Ayurveda therapies for Anxiety Disorders
Ayurveda recommends a fourfold therapy process to heal Anxiety Disorder.
a. Abhyangam – Ayurveda Herbal oil Application: After the understanding the nature of the person and nature of the diseases, suitable medicated oil is selected. This medicated oil is applied all over the body in a rhythmic action to reduce the vitiated Vata dosha.
b. Ayurveda medicated enema- Administration of a mild herbal enema after the massage and heat treatments completes the cleansing process. Ayurveda theory describes how the massage and heat treatments drive many of the impurities into the lower bowel area and, therefore, it is necessary to administer enema as the last step in the purification process.
c. Ayurveda Oleated sudation Therapies – This is again divided into three therapies.
Shirodhara: Ayurveda medicated oil is poured on the third eye as a stream for 45-55 minutes. This therapy enhances the nervous system and removes the mental fatigue in no time.
Pizhichil: Warm medicated herbal oil poured all over the body as a continuous stream for 45- 55 minutes. This improves the regeneration process and removes the psychological fatigue.
Swedana: Herbal steam application to improve the blood circulation / to remove the impurities.
Pinda Swedana: Application of medicated bolus prepared from rice, herbs, meat and processed with herbal powders. This helps to regularize the excessive metabolic activities and eliminate the unwanted the toxic byproducts.
An Ayurveda physician after considering the ten diagnostic factors of Ayurveda recommends a treatment schedule varies from 14-28 days inclusive and mixture of the above mentioned therapies. This process helps the patient to completely detoxify and rejuvenate which in turn helps the patient to come out the illness quickly.

  1. If this were my client I would check the adrenal glands and also for parasites. Most all of our problems today start with the many toxins and parasites that we have on the planet. Insomnia, many times, is a parasitic problem just like anxiety. Get rid of the parasites and you get rid of the problem. If I were this person I would do parasite cleansing, www.mynsp.com/nipps and start with Para Cleanse, Black Walnut, ATC, and then follow with Candida Clear and drink lots of Pau D Arco tea.   2. KAVA KAVA!!!! I have anxiety and have been dealing with it for years! The kava kava works wonders but high doses are needed if used alone. Tincture form or standardized extract. Also teas are a super way to go. Tea to start off the day is wonderful. A nice blend of Oats, Alfalfa, and something else that you wish to have your client on whether its mint for their belly or ginger because it's cold, etc. Oats are very calming as well and a tincture of that on the bedside is nice to have, too. Just a couple drops under the tongue works well with a couple spritzs of a homemade lavender spray (lavender essential oil and alcohol) around the room and on the sheets is calming.
    All things take time to work. And a client needs a good herbalist to talk to and trust :)
    Before I posted my comment, Dr., I didn't read your full article. I just read the post on top here. I've never tried your type of practice. It sounds competely relaxing and something I would love to try!

Judith Nipps • I have used kava kava and it is great as well as chamomile and other nervine herbs, but, again, let's find the root cause of the anxiety and stress and go there first instead of just treating the symptom. Check for parasites and toxins and organ damage and fix this problem first before treating the symptom. If you just treat the symptom you are not fixing the problem and are just doing the exact same thing the medical profession does - chases symptoms and prescribes drugs to treat the symptoms but not solving the cause. - at Linked in

  4. Melanie St. Ours • Let's also remember other root causes for anxiety which can include nutrient deficiencies (magnesium especially), trauma history, and other psycosocial issues. Depending on the kind of anxiety, different herbs are called for. Always avoid kava kava in cases where the patient has liver disease or liver damage. I also avoid it if the patient drinks alcohol more than once a week or if they take acetominophen. At Linked in

  5. Judith Nipps • You are correct about the magnesium deficiency which is huge these days. Sympathetic types need more magnesium than calcium so I test for all levels of vitamins and minerals to make sure they are not deficient. As for myself, I don't need all that calcium we are getting; my issue is the magnesium. Also good for one's heart to rest correctly. At Linked In

Dr. Anil kumar Sharma • Hi really good discussion to digest.whoever patient suffering from Anxiety,maximum of them are either on Anti Hypertensive Drug and running with HTN but never being diagnosed and roaming around to treat only anxiety.Might be some cases may be suffering due to some other reasons but not sure.I have treated number of cases on the same track.Along with Anxiety patient should be suffering from other associate complains such as Neck Pain/Calf Muscle Pain/Abdominal Discomfort and Lower Back pain too.I think one should overrule Hypertensive disorder as we all know death due to cardiovascular is growing every day and is worldwide.
